What does it mean to "be prepared?" How do you know when you are "prepared?" What do you do when someone chooses you to lead a group into unknown territory? These are big questions that face us each time we begin a new phase of our life or are given a new objective to reach. Undoubtedly, Meriwether Lewis asked himself similar questions as he prepared for his historic journey across America. Armed with a detailed set of instructions from President Jefferson, what steps did Lewis and the President take to make sure he was prepared? Did he rely on the skills and knowledge he already had or did he work to acquire more? Where would he study? Who would he seek out to best help him achieve success? View student interaction with Frank Muhly, founder of the Philadelphia chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation as he helps them get the answers to these questions and more. Learn from members of the Discovery Expedition of St. Charles as they share their preparations for their historic reenactment. Compare what you learn to steps you take as you prepare for any important task in your life. Get ready to "be prepared."
